Woodcarving

schnitzen KAT

"To the Friends" is the name of the poem in which Friedrich Schiller (1759 – 1805) shaped the saying "the boards that mean the world". When I take these famous words into my mouth, I do not mean the theatre, but my humble supply of carved wood.
Yes, it gives me great pleasure when I see how my very own small world is gradually emerging from a few boards with the help of some high-quality sculptors' tools during the course of countless leisure hours.
"To the friends" also turn my websites to carving. First and foremost, of course, my personal friends who show understanding for my elaborate hobby and always support me with advice and action. But of course all friends of nice woodwork are also addressed and cordially invited to look around my pages.

The decor should always be suitable for the decorative object! Violations of this basic design rule not only disturb the aesthetics of the object sensitively, but can even have a sensitive influence on its ability to use! Already WeblinkGotthold Ephraim Lessing knew how to say this sweetly:
The owner of the bow
A man had an excellent bow of ebony, with which he shot very far and securely, and which he kept immensely valuable. But if he looked at him attentively, he said: "You are a little too clumsy! All your adornment is the smoothness. Too bad! - But it is to be retold!" occurred to him. "I want to go and have the best artist carve pictures in the bow." - He went there; and the artist carved a whole hunt for the bow; and what would have skilled himself better than a hunt?" The man was full of joy. "You earn these trims, my dear bow!" - By wanting to try it; he stretches, and the bow - breaks. -- Lessing
